Fashion Forward Rugs

The reputation of floor rugs has certainly been tainted over the years and the common saying "You can't pay full price for a rug" hasn't been helped by the screaming, flashing light TV commercials of the past. Cue the angel music because Designer Rugs in Brisbane not only have the most exquisite rugs I have ever seen, they have also cleverly partnered up with the fashion world and the result is fabulous! Designs from big names such as Alex Perry, Dinosaur Designs and Easton Pearson are available and just quietly, I'm pretty sure you'll be paying full price for these babies...

I Digress...

I'm not sure this has much to do with design, but it's Monday and I thought it selfish of me being now a part of the world's stage, not to help spread the word on a fabulous discovery. Cupcake Couture is much too conveniently located in my own suburb of Bardon and each little cake is truly a work of art. I can personally recommend the Choc Cream Cheese or the Lemon Meringue or the Nutella or the Butterfly Cake...

Fabulous Parties

I recently went away with the girls to Stanthorpe for a wine and cheese weekend and we came across an amazing little deli-come-book shop called Olga & Agnes where I found this little treasure. "Fabulous Parties: Food and Flowers for Elegant Entertaining" is a guide to impressing your friends and provides menus, table decorations and awesome flower arrangements for themed parties from an Asian Inspired Dinner to a 50's Retro Party. Each chapter has detailed recipes for food, luscious cocktails and inspiring flowers as well as beautfiul glossy photos.

No Ordinary Light

For anyone that knows me well or has even met me, it is obvious that I like my fair share of sparkly, glittery things. It is of no surprise then when I say that I love chandeliers. Love is probably not a strong enough word. I would have one over my washing machine if I could. I love the style of the classic chandelier in a casual room such as a bathroom or kitchen. Here are a few amazing examples. There is nothing like a chandelier to turn an ordinary room into Cinderella's ballroom...

The Evolution of Wallpaper

Wallpaper is not what it used to be. My stylish mother doesn't like it but this is the same woman that doesn't get the concept of fascinators and couldn't understand why I would buy a pair of cowboy boots on e-bay.
Gone are the days of red velvet walls and it seems there is now wallpaper for every style. Our class visited the Redelman Fabric House in Fortitude Valley http://www.redelman.com/ which is where I think I fell in love. We were shown wallpaper made from linen and silks, pressed leaves and even metal. So beautiful - wallpaper has definitely evolved Mum.

What I Love

Since I am new to this, I thought that I should warm up a little so what better way to do so then to talk about what I already know - me! This time last year I thought I had a pretty good knowldge of what I loved but since studying the art of interior design I have uncovered a pristine appreciation for lovely things.
I get so excited now when I come across beautiful items that I can emphathise with Meryl Streep's character of Julia Child in the movie "Julie and Julia" in the classic scene where she takes a bite of her meal and is so overwhelmed with it's flavour that she is close to tears and cannot speak. All her poor husband can do is pat her on the arm and say "Yes dear, I know".

So this is what I love...
